Prof. Liwayway Memije-Cruz. erstwhile chair of the Department of Biology in the College of Science and former chief of the Center for Environmental Studies has retired from government service after a long teaching stint at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Technological University of the Philippines, Division of City Schools, Manila, and Martinez Memorial Colleges.
An award-winning teacher, writer and researcher whose main passion is to promote environmental protection and conservation, Prof. Memije-Cruz taught Biological Science, Ecology, Physical Science, Environmental Science, Anatomy and Physiology prior to her retirement as Associate Professor I.
Prof. Memije-Cruz also served as director of the Center for Global Warming Studies and University Center for Research, Environment and Ecological Development and course specialist at the PUP Open University and the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program of the University.
"I love writing and I really wish I have more time to write and pour my heart out. But I still have limited time with the subjects I have to teach and going with the recent trend in technology...making use of social media and on line teaching."
