Not All Personal Development Books Are Created Equal
I have a confession to make. I love self help and personal development books, and sometimes they can be a bit of an addiction for me.
That being said, I've read a lot, and after reading a lot it's fairly obvious that while there are a lot of books that have good ideas, some just aren't quite as power packed as others.
When I read a personal development book, I want it to change my life. I want it to make me think, to inspire me, and to motivate me, but most importantly, I want it to give me simple tools that I can easily apply to make a difference in my life.
These five books were total winners in that category! They provide tools that are simple to apply, and I felt like each one changed my life over night.
Did you catch that part? I'll say it again. I applied what I learned, and I started noticing results immediately!
I know that not everybody loves personal development books as much as I do, but if you are ready to really step up the results you are seeing in your life, you've got to get your hands on these five books!

Must Read Book #1: The Motivation Manifesto
This book completely rocked my world!
To be honest, when my friend recommended The Motivation Manifesto to me, I was excited to read it just to feed my addiction to personal development books, and not so much because I felt like I was lacking motivation.
Well, this book was a huge eye opener for me! It helped me to overcome fears and break down walls that I didn't even know existed in my life.
It also helped me to recognize that while it felt like everything was going fine in my life, I lacked passion for what I was doing. I enjoyed my job, but to be honest, I felt like there was more that I was meant to contribute to the world.
This book gave me the courage and vision to attempt to live dreams that I never thought would be realities.
It was actually while I was reading this book that I realized that I had been pushing my dream to be a writer aside for too long. I opened up an account to start writing on this website before I had even finished reading that book, and as of this morning, my articles have been read by over 100,000 people.
I don't know if I ever would have really jumped into the writing scene the way I did if I hadn't read The Motivation Manifesto.
This book was a total game changer!

Must Read #2: The Law of Divine Compensation: On Work, Money, and Miracles
Marianne Williamson totally speaks to my heart in this book, and based on the reviews, I'm not the only one who feels that way. I've read this book multiple times, and it gives me more inspiration every time I read it.
Being as obsessed with personal development books as I am, it's probably not surprising that I'm a collector of inspirational quotations. I've been collecting them since I was in middle school.
When I'm reading, I like to keep a journal near by where I can write down quotes that inspire me, but what I discovered as I started this book was that I wanted to copy down every single word.
Williamson writes in a way that is beautiful and inspiring.

I have a deep rooted faith and have always been a believer in miracles, but this book really opened up my mind and heart to the abundance of miracles that are available to us if we are willing to give and receive openly.

Must Read #3: 177 Mental Toughness Secrets of the World Class
This book doesn't beat around the bush!
It's very bold and straightforward about what it takes to rise above the realm of the amateurs and come out on top with the world class.
One thing I liked about this book was that each section was short (usually one or two pages), and if I didn't have much time, I could read one section, and that was enough to help me analyze my thoughts, words, and actions and know what I needed to work on for the day.
Each section of this book focuses on one mental toughness secret that will help you take your life up a level.
It provides solid reasoning as to why you should apply each secret, gives you a simple action step to help you apply what you've learned and evaluate where you're at, and gives you a suggestion of another resource for more in depth reading and study on that topic.
The next book on my list was actually a suggestion from a section in this book.
If you want to discover how to jump from average results to a world class lifestyle, this book is a must read!

Must Read #4: What to Say When You Talk to Yourself
I've been a believer in positive self talk and affirmations for a long time, but I'd never seen such a simple yet comprehensive guide on this topic. The depth it goes into is profound, yet it's quite easy to understand and apply.
I thought that the method for coming up with positive affirmations that I'd used in the past was pretty top notch (and I still think it is), but after reading this book I made a few discoveries.
First off, I'm pretty sure that the person who coached me on how to create powerful positive affirmations had studied this book herself. Second, while I was off to a great start, there was still a lot more left for me to learn.
The day after I finished reading this book, I decided to put some of my new knowledge to work by writing self talk scripts for specific areas of my life that needed improvement, and I've been a changed woman ever since.
That's right! I hadn't even had a chance to repeat my self talk scripts over and over again before I noticed that I was thinking and behaving differently!
The self talk methods in this book work, and I'm convinced even more than ever that if we ever want to make real changes in our lives, we have to change the way we talk to ourselves first.
If you want to see changes in your life happen fast, this book is a must read!

Must Read #5: The Miracle Morning
I first heard about this book when one of my friends who I greatly admire for making some big dreams turn into realities mentioned that The Miracle Morning played a huge role in what she was able to achieve (see video above).
It was obvious to me that she was experiencing some extremely positive results in her life, so I thought that whatever she was doing was worth a try, and I bought myself a copy of the book. It was a great investment, because the miracle morning routine has greatly improved my life.
One of the most key ideas in this book is that our level of success will never be higher than the level of personal development we invest in.
I don't want to give away the whole book, but basically if you step up your personal development by investing even a little bit of time to participate in six basic personal development activities (that the author calls S.A.V.E.R.S) each day, you will all of the sudden get the return of an increased amount of success in your life.
The author suggests that you do these activities first thing in the morning for two reasons. First, most ambitious and motivated people don't have extra time during their usual waking hours to add six more activities to their schedules, and second, doing the S.A.V.E.R.S first thing in the morning sets a tone for success for the rest of the day.
While it's not essential that these S.A.V.E.R.S happen first thing in the morning, it is strongly suggested, and the author gives some great suggestions to overcome the urge to hit the snooze button.
These S.A.V.E.R.S could literally be life savers for you if you are trying to accomplish new levels of success that you've never achieved before.
If you're ready to truly invest in yourself and see the results that follow, this book is a must read!

It seems like when we're not true to ourselves, not only do we find ourselves less content with our situation, but we hinder ourselves from touching others in as powerful of a way as we would have had we been more authentic.
Of course, we are making a difference now matter what job we choose or how we contribute to society, but I think when we choose do contribute by doing the things we are most passionate about, we often bring more to the table as far as what we are willing to give.
Not only that, but when we are being our true selves, we are able to contribute in a way that nobody else possibly could. Nobody besides you can do things the way that you would. When you are trying to act like someone else, you're always going to come in second place to the person you're pretending to be.
