I will pick Thoni. Thoni is a reflection of a woman who is faithful to her husband. She acts as a wife who knows her love and faithfulness is directed to her husband even if Remi doesn't know it. Sadly, Remi realizes how much Thoni loved her at the end of the play after his wife committed suicide.
Thoni also depicts how in Africa, it is the man who proposes to a woman that he loves her. Remi had expected Thoni to confess her love for him. She couldn't. It was Remi's role to tell her how he felt towards her.
Also, Thoni acts as a helper towards her mother-in-law. It's sufficient to say her mother is old thus she does assist her in doing house chores and maybe in the 'shamba.'
