Do crocodile and alligator jaws open in different ways or does the same part of the jaw open?

Answer

Despite the difference of snout shape, the jaws do open in a similar way. There has been much research into which animal has the most powerful bite. Recent experiments seem to show that it's generally the size of the animal that dictates how strong its bite is, rather than whether it is a crocodile or alligator.
